The Power of "Words"

Think before you speak as words can heal and words can kill.

Words are the most powerful tool man has at his disposal. They can give hope and energy, but at the same time they can hurt and damage.

There are several ways to use words -

1. If you are an emotionally intelligent person you can use words to soothe or encourage someone, using a good dose of non-judgmental listening.

2. All around us, many people are not good at controlling their emotions and care little or nothing about those of others. They speak before they think, saying whatever comes to mind.

3. There are also those people who talk non-stop, wasting their own and others' energy.

How to improve your public speaking skills?

Communication skills are very important for a successful life. If your professional life requires you to do frequent public speaking, interviews, presentations and more, it is worth investing in developing this skill. This will allow you to connect with others with confidence and empathy.

Simple and effective tips for public speaking

Be prepared - If you're prepared, you've got a lot going for you. Create some notes that you can quickly review several times before you start. Practising in front of a mirror was a classic that worked well for me, or alternatively, ask someone else to act as an audience.

What kind of audience you have - You don't speak in the same way if your presentation is in front of students as you do in front of a steering committee.

Organized notes - It is important that you specify the key issues and main points. You may be interrupted to ask questions, so be clear about what you want them to take away from your presentation that is important.

Feedback - At the end of your presentation it is a good idea to hand out a sheet for comments or suggestions. You can learn from any feedback, even if it is negative.

Body language - Dress comfortably, but professionally. Practice tone of voice, hand gestures and eye contact.

Finish with style - Always end with recaps of what you have seen, as well as something interesting, so that your audience is left wanting more.

Remember, you have the power of words and to reach people you have to use them wisely and intelligently.
